Re: Strange Atmosphere
Birmingham’s fans are a strange bunch. During league matches at our place they never really brought any numbers, but they tend to bring a lot more for cup games. Fair do’s they took their full allocation today and sung very loudly but at league matches playing us they are more noticeable by their relative absence.

The ‘You’re not West Ham any more’ song always makes me smile (Chelsea have also previously sung this, the irony!) Location wise we are back at our roots in the old Metropolitan Borough of West Ham. Ethos wise as a club, yes, we have moved on and now play in a huge stadium with 57,000 punters each week, but I’d still rather be us and be the fourth largest London club than the second or third biggest club in Birmingham.

Fonz - got to agree with Wils here. I get what and why you're thinking, but he's right. It's just one of those things.

Re: Strange Atmosphere
I went to Wolves in the last season at Upton Park in the same round I think. Dour game like this one and the stadium was lifeless. Kids offered cheap tickets (which is why I went). We were sitting near the away fans and the only time the West Ham fans sprung to life was when the Wolves fan sung "you never won fuck all" Obvious what the reply was, but other than that it similar to this match.

People overdoing the differences here.

On the ball.

I tend to agree but at Upton Park we had pockets of areas that were noisy most of the time, chav corner, chicken run, and Bobby Moore lower.

Today there was nothing, yes it's a 12.30 game packed with loads of kids but the atmosphere was embarrassingly bad.

Re: Strange Atmosphere
It was kids for a quid and an early kick off against a mid table Championship side. The ground was full of kids which is good for the future but not for the atmosphere. Who cares what Birmingham fans think. They have thousands of empty seats at every home game and over the years have never took many to us. Not many cheered Carroll’s goal. Think it was a mixture of relief and the fact that Carroll missed the sitter just prior to the goal

If any of you thinks we'd have outsung them at UP then you are utterly deluded.

I have to agree with them.

We aren't West Ham anymore when we play at home

Re: Strange Atmosphere
Thing is, we all sing is this a library and your support is fucking shit when we go away. Away fans are generally the noisiest.

I love away games, but haven’t been to many in recent times, but for those who do still go, where are we out sung? No many places, I bet.

Their lot were in good voice. Lots of them there as well.

Respectful for the minute's applause though which was good.

Re: Strange Atmosphere
Apparently a few on their forum saying they had managed to get tickets in our end.... putting 2 and 2 together if they did not at least clap when we scored I reckon good chance it was some Blue Noses...

Re: Strange Atmosphere
That's a coincidence. The block number atches teh amount of fans rucking. That's about the worst place then. Easier to deal with in block 102.

And yes, probably the loudest over there.

We can generate an atmosphere of sorts, but it always seems disjointed, because the place is so big.
